Mini Zen Garden: Yin & Yang
Each garden comes in a reusable gift box. The slate pieces are imported from India. I hand cut and repurpose them. 10 or more coats of stone enhancer/sealer are applied for that delightful 'wet' look. The corks are recycled by drilling them out, inserting a clay hydro bead (in case you wish to put live plants in them) and arranging various types of moss, stones, etc.
I found these railroad spikes one day on an urban trek with friends right here in Richmond. When I laid them on this piece of slate with fossilized plants, I thought of the Yin and the Yang. After drilling out the slate, I used copper wire to attach the spikes, hand painted the patina and arranged the cork planters and stones. I carefully intertwined the moss so as to represent the entanglement of love.
